Lisa traveled nearly all the way around the world before settling in San Luis Obispo. She earned a Bachelor's degree in the Science of Nursing in Kansas (where she was born and raised), worked three years as a nurse in New Hampshire, and then taught English in China during most of the 1990s. While living in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Lisa learned Cantonese - to build relationships, function in daily life, and sing Cantonese pop songs at karaoke.
Since returning to the States in 2000, Lisa has worked as an administrative professional-mostly in education. She came to Cal Poly in 2010 and joined the MATE department in 2013.
Seeing MATE students grow and excel in their lifelong learning brings her much happiness!
